Lighter driving (~170 km Itanagar↔Ziro) vs 1,100+ km round trip for Tawang.
Ziro Valley: UNESCO-listed Apatani cultural landscape, pine forests, rice-fish fields.
Best for travellers with limited time / who dislike long mountain drives / prone to altitude sickness.

Day 1 · Mon 25 May Kolkata → Itanagar

Morning flight CCU → HGI (Hollongi airport).
Drive HGI → Itanagar city (~35 km / 1 hr). Check into hotel.
Afternoon: Ita Fort (14th-c. ruins), Gyakar Sinyi Gompa, Indira Gandhi Park.
Overnight: Itanagar.

Day 2 · Tue 26 May Itanagar → Ziro Valley

Early drive to Ziro (~170 km / 6–7 hrs) via NH-13; scenic hill road.
Lunch break at Yazali / Potin.
Evening: settle into homestay in Old Ziro / Hapoli. Sunset walk through pine groves.
Overnight: Ziro (homestay or Blue Pine / Ziro Valley Resort).

Day 3 · Wed 27 May Ziro — Apatani villages

Full-day tour of Hong, Hari, Hija, Bamin-Michi villages — bamboo houses, tattooed Apatani elders.
Meghna Cave Temple, Dolo Mando viewpoint.
Evening: local market, handloom emporium.
Overnight: Ziro.

Day 4 · Thu 28 May Ziro — Kile Pakho & Talley

Kile Pakho (sunrise viewpoint over paddy-fish fields).
Day hike to Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary entrance / Pine Grove forest.
Visit Tarin Fish Farm, Shiva Lingam at Kardo Hill (optional).
Overnight: Ziro.

Day 5 · Fri 29 May Ziro → Itanagar

Drive back to Itanagar (~6 hrs). Lunch en route.

Overnight: Itanagar (near airport for easy morning transfer).

Day 6 · Sat 30 May Itanagar → Kolkata

Transfer HGI airport. Fly HGI → CCU.

7. Booking checklist

Book IndiGo CCU ↔ HGI flights now (prices rise sharply within 3 weeks of travel).
Apply e-ILP at eilp.arunachal.gov.in around 20 May.
Confirm Itanagar & Ziro hotels on MakeMyTrip / directly with property — carry printed bookings.
Pre-book Innova cab for HGI→Itanagar→Ziro→Itanagar→HGI through local operator (Arunachal Holidays, Himalayan Holidays, or hotel).
Carry cash — ATMs scarce in Ziro; UPI works in towns but not in villages.
Pack: light layers (15–25°C), rain jacket (pre-monsoon showers), sturdy shoes.

8. Risks & notes

May = pre-monsoon; occasional landslides on Itanagar–Ziro road. Keep a buffer day in mind.
Hollongi airport is small — flight cancellations due to weather happen; have a 1-day buffer return option if possible.
Mobile connectivity: Jio & Airtel work in Itanagar / Ziro town; patchy in villages.
No alcohol shops in tribal areas — carry what you need from Itanagar.
